Minion-Driven Development: Deploying a Fleet of AI Agents
TalkOne Minion doing everything solo sounds efficient until it drowns in context and starts hallucinating migrations for the wrong database. You wouldn't send Kevin alone to steal the moon. You need a crew. BMAD was my answer: specialized Minions, each with a focused role and a clean artifact-based handoff to the next. No Minion inherits the full project history, only what it needs. It worked. Except the OpenTelemetry instrumentation was a mess: stale SDKs, broken trace propagation, wrong semantic conventions. So I added a dedicated Observability Engineer to the crew. Then I brought in OpenClaw as the boss Minion. I describe the goal, it drives the whole BMAD crew. Felt like Gru finally having a plan. Until I realized I was burning tokens just asking "what's the status?" I had zero visibility. Even Minions need supervision. That frustration led me to Paperclip, a framework that manages agents like a real organization: tickets, assignments, audit trail. I built the BMAD crew for Paperclip so my Minions work with real structure. Now they check out tickets, escalate blockers, and I can see exactly what the crew is up to.
